Brand Advocacy Event

Neoco are proud to co-sponsor the Revolution Brand Advocacy Event, today at The Selfridge, London. It’s too late to get tickets to this sell-out event but Neoco clients can access a full de-briefing. Just speak to Benn or Laura through your client dashboard or email them direct.
Joost developer event

seems like only yesterday I was on the super secret Beta squad at Joost but it was actually several months ago… time flies when your are on this crazy ride called ‘interweb’. Anyway, today is their first developer conference and it is being held right around the corner in Covent Garden. Will be heading down with a developer and let you know how it goes - part of the afternoon includes an ‘on the fly’ build of a web app! Now that’s TV!
Future of Mobile

Great Future of Mobile event today at iMAX (nr Waterloo). Nice event. Lots of somebodies and a few nobodies (no-one from Apple to discuss iPhone). Topics covered: iPhone (Dur!) Monetising Mobile Mobile 2.0 (I really f*cking hate that 2.0 terminology!) Mobile 3.0 (OK, this is taking the p*ss now) and much more. Laura has a full write up of some key sessions - ideal for a lowdown on what’s happening or next in mobile.
miPhone

Friday afternoon, walked in to Carphone Warehouse and picked up some iPhones for myself and the team (more to come too). One weekend of playing (and hacking) later… and I love it. I have to confess that I wanted to love it… but by Friday I was ready to go and throw it back through CW windows! This is a very progressive phone in so many ways but in so many other ways, it feels dated and unusable. I hate having to import everything via iTunes and the idea of purchasing ringtones is a prehistoric way to bleed the faithful. Well, thankfully that took me all of 20mins to find a workaround - simple too (email me for info)! It is irritating that my bluetooth is instantly visable without a way to hide it. Spam ahead bluecasters! But then again, the touch interface is the best around and it is a magnet for people wherever you are, just pull it out and watch the flock and fondle. Video quality is great with no ghosting. Sound quality is typical iPod - very loud and very tinny! shame. Texting is a pain and my thumbs pressed the wrong digit several times but I am used to it now. All said and done it was a nice purchase. As great as this phone is, the best thing is what it signifies… hopefully a new dawn in mobile design and interface.

Another Carbon disaster for Royal Mail

Today we received another shipment of 26 Royal Mail brochures which were not for us. Impressively, the volume of brochures has increased - we used to only receive 15 brochures with incorrect details! These brochures come through every other month to demonstrate the power of ‘marketing through mail’. The irony of the fact that these brochures are going to the wrong people at the wrong address is not lost on me. Hmm. Shall I use them for our next campaign? There data is obviously very reliable…
The really sad part is not the fact that we have spent man hours chasing them trying to correct their bi-monthly mistake but the fact that these 26 brochures weigh in at about 5kg of glossy paper, full colour print and shrink wrap plastic - this issue actually uses metallics and embossing too. Imagine the carbon footprint of that production any way. Now imagine how much is wasted by bad data. Thankfully we recycle ours (when we contacted them before we were told to just throw them away!) but imagine how many end up in the bin at thousands of other incorrect addresses. Another sad thing is that this wastage also costs money. Money which they make from charging their customers - which is you and me. So their waste not only contaminates our planet but we are also paying for the privilege of it!

Tshirts are cool

Thanks to our friends at Freewheelin for having us over to the launch of Illustrated People in the Old Truman - some very cool people checking out the garms that actually go around on a washing line above your head. There was something for everyone… though most people got stuck by the free bar!
